STORY SYNOPSES
WHAT WISH COMES TRUE?
The very moment her life-long wish is about to come true, a young evergreen tree realizes this is exactly what she does not want. Growing up in a coniferous forest, little Evergreen dreams of winning a “blue ribbon” and becoming a beautiful Christmas tree. Repeatedly passed over, little Evergreen learns to handle disappointment and discovers that wishes may come true in unexpected ways.
LULA LOSES SLEEP
The problem begins when Lula will NOT go to sleep.
“All right, Lula, don’t go to sleep tonight," her parents sigh.
"See what happens when you get no sleep!”
What happens surprises even Managerie, her pet tiger, as LULA,
wrapped in a blanket of stars, floats out her bedroom window to
search the moon and beyond for her lost sleep.
This delightful story speaks to the child in us all who wonders
WHERE does our sleep go?
RAINBOW In My Room
When Lula discovers an old tweed satchel in the dusty pile
under her bed, “all the colors in the world and more!”
fill her bedroom and lead her on an adventure of discoveries
about how she sees herself and the world around her.
GOSBOS
Who are the Gosbos and why are they renting a room in the old house on Gilloney Street? Was that a tail just disappearing under Mrs. Gosbos’ robe? Six year old Garby’s incurable curiosity draws her to Mrs. Gosbos’ sitting room each afternoon to hear the boarder spin extraordinary tales. As she listens, Garby explores the strange patterns woven into their carpet and begins to uncover the couple’s plan. A terrible accident throws the girl deep into their secret for an amazing life-changing adventure.
THE WHINERS
When a son is born to a well known family of Warblers
they are shocked to discover their little son can not sing,
he can only whine!
What follows is a comedy of errors as others are
drawn into their dilemma. A new take on whining
lets us laugh our way out of a habit as old as the trees.
CHRISTMAS TREE TALES
Christmas tree ornaments come alive just once every year during holiday time. While Winter Penguin hops foot to foot at the foot of the tree, Snow Princess spins above him on her golden cord. Slice of Pie (who heads the Food Group this year), the Doves (with Real feathers), Little Chick, The Great Angel, six Snowman, seven Santas and numerous other decorations tell us tales of their special seasons on the tree, and each ornament shares what the Long Interval means for them.
When Little Chick sneaks onto the A-Line Train and goes missing, Winter Penguin hops off to find her and Santa Number Six jumps on Silvertip Reindeer to join the search. Along the way they discover friendships can be strengthened when hidden wishes are shared and fears are faced together. Though the Long Interval awaits them all, this year it will be forever changed.
